The magical power of a wish journey
MAGIC is a three part series of short documentaries diving into the magic of granting a wish of a child with a life threatening disease. By experiencing that even their dearest wish can be fulfilled, wish children are empowered and motivated to get better when the going gets tough. This year’s films show this process with the unbelievable stories of Cindy, Jada and Ize.
Cindy’s (10) dearest wish back in 1990 was to experience her favourite television show behind the scenes: “Zeg ’ns AAA”. Her wish was the magical start of the Dutch Make-A-Wish Foundation which has fullfilled more than 9000 wishes since its start in 1990 with the wish of Cindy.
Ize (6) believes in rainbow unicorn power to help her fight her battle. That’s why she wanted to ride on a rainbow unicorn, even though she says that unicorns don’t exist. That is until the magical moment the doors open and she meets Indy, her rainbow unicorn. As Ize’s mom explains in the film, meeting and cuddling with her rainbow unicorn did help Ize through the toughest times in hospital.
Elza, Aurora, Belle. Disney princesses are Jada’s (3) best friends. She dresses like her best friends, she walks like them and you can find them everywhere in her room. Jada wants to visit the most magical place on earth to meet her heroines: Disneyland Paris. In the film, Jada gets to dress up like Belle, dance with Belle and walk down the stairs with Belle.
